How to use the yellow screen
- Pick a yellow, from Yellow and Lemon to Mustard.
- Switch on Sunset gradient if you’d like it to fade warmer towards the bottom.
- Set Brightness; the readout shows the color and how much light it gives.
- Press Fullscreen or F, and Esc or ✕ to leave. It works in any browser on a phone, laptop, monitor or TV.
Warm yellow and amber light
A yellow screen lights its red and green subpixels and leaves blue off. Yellow and Warm cream give over 90 % of your screen’s maximum light, Amber 59 % and Mustard 46 %. Amber looks warmer because its hue sits at 45° instead of 60°. The closer the screen, the brighter the light on your subject. Lighting your face for a call? First check your look in the online mirror. And for a warm white like a 2700 K bulb rather than a yellow, the screen light shows #FFA757.
Photo backdrops and color-gel looks
Behind small products, a tablet or monitor makes a clean yellow backdrop: turn the room lights down and angle the camera a little to avoid reflections. Placed beside the subject, the screen casts color like a gel on a lamp. Lemon reads fresh, Gold and Amber golden. Download PNG saves any of them in five sizes. Cutting the subject out afterwards? Yellow sits close to skin tones and blond hair and keys badly, so use the green screen.
Sunset gradient
The top color fades to a shade 20° warmer at the bottom: Yellow ends at #FFAA00, Amber at #FF6A00. The gradient shows in fullscreen and in the PNG, where the file name carries both colors. Pair it with the gradient theme of the aesthetic clock on a second screen for a warm desk.

For a light yellow, take Pastel yellow or Warm cream. For a dark yellow, choose Mustard or Amber rather than the slider, which turns yellow olive. Yellow and gold are CSS named colors (MDN), and amber is the default sand of the hourglass timer.
Options explained
The swatches, Hex and the color picker set the color, and Copy hex copies it. Sunset gradient is off by default. Brightness runs from 5 to 100 % with a readout of the shown color and its light. Download PNG has five sizes and Apply brightness to the image. Share makes a link; Settings holds Soft glow, tracking markers (black by default here) and Keep screen on.
How it works
The color is a CSS background, visible before scripts load. Brightness multiplies each channel, so 50 % gives #808000, the web’s “olive”, with about a fifth of the light. The gradient uses the same two colors on screen and in the PNG. Nothing is uploaded, and there’s no 10-hour video or screensaver app: fullscreen keeps the screen on.
Tips and limits
- The page lights its own window and can’t tint other apps. For that, use Night Shift (Apple) or Color Tint (Apple) on iPhone, Night Shift on a Mac (Apple) or Night light on Windows (Microsoft); True Tone can warm an Apple screen too (Apple).
- A screen is a weak lamp; bring it close or bounce it off a white wall.
- We make no eye, rest or reading claims for any color.
- On OLED screens yellow uses only the red and green subpixels. Static shapes left for hours can mark an OLED panel; a flat color wears it evenly.
- Plug in for long sessions.
FAQ
How do I turn my whole screen yellow?
A web page can only color its own window. To tint every app, use iPhone Night Shift (Settings → Display & Brightness → Night Shift, then More Warm) or Color Tint, Night Shift in Mac System Settings → Displays, or Windows Settings → System → Display → Night light, where Strength sets how yellow it gets.
What's the difference between yellow and amber light?
Amber #FFBF00 has less green than Yellow #FFFF00: its hue is 45° instead of 60°, so it looks warmer and more golden. It also gives less light, about 59 % of your screen's maximum against 93 % for Yellow, because green is the brightest part of a screen's white.
Can I use a yellow screen as a photo background?
Yes, for small things. Put a tablet or monitor behind the object, dim the room and angle the camera slightly so the screen doesn't reflect. Download PNG saves the yellow flat or with the Sunset gradient. It isn't a keying color, though; for cutting a subject out, use a green backdrop.
Can I make the yellow dimmer?
Lower your device brightness first. The Brightness slider turns yellow into olive, #808000 at 50 %, which gives only about 20 % of the light because screen values are gamma-encoded. For a darker yellow color rather than less light, pick Mustard or Amber.
Can I use any yellow hex color?
Yes. Type a #RGB or #RRGGBB code into Hex, or use the color picker. The Sunset gradient works with any color that has a hue and fades it 20° warmer at the bottom; grays have no hue, so with them the gradient stays flat.
Why does my screen look yellow?
Usually a warm display setting is on: Night Shift or True Tone on Apple devices, Night light on Windows, or a night or eye-comfort mode on Android. Turn it off in the display settings. If the tint stays with those off, check the cable and the monitor's color mode, then contact the maker.
Will it keep my screen awake?
In fullscreen it asks the browser to keep the screen on, which Chrome and Edge 84+, Firefox 126+ and Safari 16.4+ support. iPhone Home Screen apps can do it from iOS 18.4. Where that isn't available, lengthen your auto-lock or display sleep time while the light is on.
