HugeTimer is a set of big, distraction-free timers, stopwatches, clocks and screen lights that run in your web browser. Every page is one tool, built to be readable from the back of a room: huge digits, calm colors, a true fullscreen view and keyboard shortcuts. There is nothing to install and no account to create.
Who builds it
HugeTimer is built and run by one independent developer who wanted a timer that works well on a TV or projector during talks, workouts and cooking. It is a side project with no investors and no sales team. Ads may appear below the tools to pay for hosting and development, but never inside a tool and never in fullscreen.
How the tools work
The tools read your device’s clock instead of counting ticks. When you press Start, the page notes the moment the timer will end, and every update is that end moment minus the current time. That is why a timer stays right when you switch tabs, and why it can catch up after your laptop wakes from sleep. Sounds are generated in your browser with the Web Audio API, and they only play after you have clicked or pressed a key on the page. Where the browser allows it, the page also asks the screen to stay awake while a tool runs.
The details, including what browsers can and can’t do in background tabs, are on the page How our timers stay accurate.
Privacy approach
Your timers, laps, alarms and settings are saved only in your own browser, using its local storage. Nothing you type is sent to a server. Share links carry their settings after the # sign of the address, a part that browsers never send to the website. Analytics, when they are switched on, count anonymous events such as “a timer started” and never include labels, names or times. You can delete everything the site saved with Clear my data in any tool’s settings or on the privacy policy page.
What HugeTimer is not
It is not a medical, safety or workplace device. A web page can’t ring when the browser is closed or the computer sleeps, so please don’t rely on it for anything where a missed alarm could cause harm.
