How to set an alarm clock on this computer

    1. Press Add alarm, or one of the chips such as In 15 min.
    2. Under Alarm time, type 730, 7:30 pm or 1930. In 12-hour mode, pick AM or PM; the line under the field shows what you’ll get, like = 7:30 AM.
    3. Choose a Sound, set Volume and press Test sound.
    4. Set Repeat, Snooze and Ring for, then press Save.
    5. Check the list for Rings in and the time left, and keep the tab open, the computer awake and the volume up.

Choose and test your alarm sound

There are seven sounds — Soft rise, Chime, Bell, Digital, Beep, Ding and Buzzer — all generated by your browser, with no audio files. Soft rise starts at a fifth of its volume and is at full volume after 20 seconds. Test sound plays one round at the alarm’s own volume, so what you hear now is what you’ll hear later. The page can’t change your computer’s volume, and sound only plays after your first click on the page.

    Snooze, repeat and several alarms

Keep up to 5 alarms, for example 07:30 Wake up on weekdays and 13:55 Call with Sam once. Repeat can be Once, Every day, Weekdays, Weekends or Custom days. While an alarm rings, press Space or Snooze to hear it again in 5, 9, 10 or 15 minutes, or Esc or Stop to end it. Unanswered, it stops after the Ring for time of 1, 5 or 10 minutes.

Keep it working: open tab, awake computer, volume up

An online alarm can only ring while this tab is open, the computer is awake and the sound is up. These stop it:

    • closing the tab or the browser,
    • sleep, including closing a laptop lid,
    • battery saver modes that freeze background pages,
    • memory saving: in Chrome, add this site under Settings → Performance → Always keep these sites active (Chrome help),
    • a locked phone.

The page does its part: while an alarm is on, it shows a reminder banner, asks the screen to stay on and says whether that worked. An alarm up to 10 minutes late, after the computer wakes, still rings; a later one leaves a note. With two tabs open, only one rings.

Set a quick alarm in 5, 15 or 30 minutes

The chips In 5 min, In 15 min, In 30 min and In 1 hour set an alarm with one click, rounded up to the next whole minute: at 10:42:07, In 15 min rings at 10:58. Undo removes it right away. For a countdown you can watch instead, use the online countdown timer or the 5 minute timer, and for the days until an event, the countdown to a date.

A big digital alarm clock on any screen

On a laptop, monitor or TV, press F for a big digital alarm clock with the next alarm under it. Night mode turns the time amber on black from 22:00 to 07:00, so a dark room stays dark, and in fullscreen the clock shifts a few pixels a minute. Without alarms, try the fullscreen digital clock or the flip clock.

How this online alarm clock works

This online alarm clock runs in your browser and works like a bedside clock: alarms follow your device’s clock and time zone. On the night clocks go forward, a 2:30 alarm rings at 3:00; on the night they go back, a 1:30 alarm rings once. The page keeps one exact timer for the next alarm and lines up its sound in advance, so it starts on time in a background tab, and it checks again whenever the computer wakes. Alarms are stored in this browser only. There’s no internet time check, so a wrong computer clock means a wrong alarm: turn on automatic time in your system settings.

    Tips and limits

On a phone, use the built-in alarm. Sound plays through the active speakers or headphones, and do-not-disturb modes can hide notifications, so test with yours on. Private windows forget alarms when they close. For work and break cycles, try the Pomodoro timer.

    FAQ

How do I set an alarm on this computer or laptop?

You don't need an app. Press Add alarm, type the time (730 or 7:30 pm), press Test sound to hear it at your volume, then Save. The alarm appears in the list with Rings in and the time left. Keep this tab open and the computer awake until it rings.

Will the alarm ring if my laptop goes to sleep or I close the lid?

No. No web page runs while a computer sleeps. If it wakes up to 10 minutes after the alarm time, the alarm still rings and says Missed by 3 min; later than that, you'll see a note that the alarm was missed. For important alarms, keep the laptop open, awake and plugged in.

Can I close the tab after setting the alarm?

No — the alarm lives in this tab, so closing it or the browser stops it. You can use other tabs and programs, or minimize the window, and the alarm still rings. If you reopen the page later, it tells you about any alarm it missed while it was closed.

Why can't I hear my alarm?

Browsers keep pages silent until you click them once, so after a reload you'll see Sound is off — click anywhere to turn it on. Also check the computer's volume and mute, which speakers or headphones are active, and the alarm's own Volume in the editor. Test sound checks all of it in a second.

Can I set more than one alarm?

Yes, up to 5 at once. Each alarm has its own label, sound, volume, repeat days, snooze length and ring length, and its own switch, so you can keep a weekday wake-up switched off for the weekend. Alarms set for the same minute ring together with one sound.

Does the alarm clock work without Wi-Fi?

Yes. Once the page has loaded, the online alarm clock runs entirely in your browser, so it keeps working if the connection drops. It's free, needs no sign-up, and your alarms are saved in this browser only, so they don't appear on your other devices.

Can I use it as the alarm on my phone?

Only while the page is open and the screen stays on, which drains the battery and isn't reliable. Phones pause web pages when the screen locks, and iPhone Safari can't show notifications for a normal browser tab. To wake up on a phone, use its built-in alarm app.

Why does snooze last 9 minutes?

Nine minutes is a common default on bedside alarm clocks, so it's the default here too. If it's too long or too short, choose Snooze 5, 10 or 15 minutes for each alarm in the editor. Press Space or Snooze while it rings, and Esc or Stop to end it.
