How to use the 1 minute timer

  1. Press Start or Space. The timer is already set to 1:00.
  2. For another length, tap a chip (30 s, 45 s, 1 min, 90 s or 2 min) or click the digits and type: 130 is 1:30, 115 is 1:15, 3m gives a 3 minute timer and 100m a 100 minute one (1:40:00).
  3. To go again every minute, raise Repeat every minute before you start; 15 rounds take 15:00.
  4. Press F to fill the screen.
  5. While it runs, Space pauses, −10 s and +10 s adjust the time, and R resets.

One-minute challenges, pitches and resets

  • Game-night challenges. Stack cups or name ten capitals before zero; tenths in the last 10 seconds make a close finish easy to call. For a fuse, try the cartoon bomb timer, or the random timer when the end should stay secret.
  • A 60-second pitch. Rehearse an elevator pitch with the countdown on a second screen.
  • Holds and stretches. Put the phone on the floor for a one-minute plank or stretch; the 3-2-1 pips announce the end.
  • A reset between tasks. One minute to stand, stretch and tidy your desk before the next task.

Repeat every minute (EMOM)

EMOM means “every minute on the minute”: you start a set of reps at the top of each minute and rest for what’s left of it (BarBend). Set Repeat every minute from 2 to 60 rounds; the summary shows the total, such as “10 rounds · 10:00 total”, and 60 rounds make an hour. While it runs, the line reads “Round 3 / 10 · ends at 10:42”; changing the rounds needs a Reset first.

Each round gets its 3-2-1 pips, each new minute starts with a high pip, and the full alarm waits for the last round. Round ends are chained from the start, so the set doesn’t drift. A 1:30 length turns the control into Repeat every 1:30. For fixed rests between efforts, use the interval timer.

3-2-1 beeps and tenths of a second

3-2-1 pips are on by default: a short pip at 3, 2 and 1 second left in every round. The final zero plays the Digital alarm once; Settings changes the sound and Ring for, and Test sound plays it. Under 10 seconds the digits show tenths at the same size, while the tab title keeps whole seconds. You can switch the pips off and set Show tenths to Off or Last minute.

A moment of silence

Tap Moment of silence for a silent minute: 1:00, one round, no sound, pips, tenths, flashing or overtime, labeled “Moment of silence”. At zero it stops at 0:00 with a border and Time’s up, and nothing plays. Tap it again to bring back the normal 1 minute timer.

Options explained

  • Sound: Digital, rung once (Ring for: Once). Volume: 70 %.
  • 3-2-1 pips: on. Show tenths: Last 10 s.
  • Count overtime: on, so after zero the digits count up in red under Over by. Flash at zero: on.
  • Progress: a ring that empties each round, a bar, or Off. Warnings: none; up to three can add a color, a sound or both.
  • Theme, Keep screen on, the tab title and icon, and Notify me when time is up work as on every HugeTimer timer; Clear my data resets them.

How it stays exact

The digits always show the end of the current round minus your device clock, never a count of ticks. Round ends are calculated from the moment you pressed Start, so a 20-round set finishes 20 minutes later unless you pause. Pips and the final alarm are booked ahead on the audio clock, which keeps time while the browser slows a background tab. After sleep, the timer jumps to the right round and plays only the newest cue under a minute old, never a backlog. Nothing is sent from your device. The full method: how our timers stay accurate.

Tips and limits

  • Keep the tab open: a closed tab or a sleeping device can’t beep.
  • For a long EMOM set on a phone, plug it in and leave Keep screen on on; a locked phone may pause the page.
  • iPhone has no true fullscreen for web pages, so the timer fills the window.
  • It can’t run inside a slide; use a second screen beside your presentation.
  • There’s no music, only generated beeps.

FAQ

How do I set a 1 minute timer?

It's already set to 1:00, so press Start or Space. To change the length, tap a chip from 30 s to 2 min, or click the digits, type something like 130 for 1:30 and press Enter. It's free with no sign-up, and the online timer handles longer lengths.

How do I make the 1 minute timer repeat?

Set Repeat every minute under the chips: press + until it shows the rounds you want, from 2 to 60, then press Start. The summary shows the total, such as “15 rounds · 15:00 total”, and 60 rounds last an hour. Each new minute starts by itself after a high pip.

What does EMOM mean?

EMOM means every minute on the minute. At the start of each minute you do a set number of reps, then rest for whatever is left before the next minute begins. Set Repeat every minute to your workout's length in minutes, and the pips tell you when to go.

Can it show tenths of a second?

Yes. In the last 10 seconds of each round the digits switch to tenths, 9.9 down to 0.1, at the same size. Choose Last minute under Show tenths for the whole final minute, or Off for whole seconds. The tab title and screen-reader updates always use whole seconds.

How do I practice a 60-second pitch with it?

Press Add label and call it Pitch, then put the timer on a second screen or tablet you can see while you speak. Switch off 3-2-1 pips in Settings if beeps distract you. The tab title still shows the seconds left, and Restart runs another minute straight away.

Is a 1 minute countdown accurate in a background tab?

Yes, while the computer stays awake. The timer stores its end time and reads the clock, and every pip and the alarm are booked ahead on the audio clock. A locked phone may pause the page; when you return, it shows the right round, with no burst of old beeps.

Can I turn the beeps off?

Yes. Press M or the Sound button to mute everything. To keep the alarm but drop the countdown beeps, switch off 3-2-1 pips in Settings. For a fully silent minute, tap Moment of silence: no sound, no flashing, and it stops at 0:00. Tap it again to undo it.
