How to use the flip clock
The flip clock runs as soon as the page loads, free and with no sign-up: six split-flap cards for hours, minutes and seconds. Press F, press Fullscreen or double-click the cards to fill the screen, and Esc to leave. Pick a card look under Style, and switch seconds or 24-hour in Settings. On an iPhone, Safari can’t go truly fullscreen, so the cards fill the window; Add to Home Screen removes the browser bars.
Use it as a flip clock screensaver
Open the page on a spare monitor, a laptop by the desk or a TV, press F and leave it. In current browsers the screen stays on while the cards fill it, and every minute the whole clock moves a few pixels so nothing burns in. What a web page can’t do is install itself as the computer’s screensaver or start after the computer has been idle; it shows only while you keep it open. For unattended days, use the system screensaver or let the computer sleep, and keep laptops plugged in. Prefer fish to digits? Try the aquarium screensaver.
Flip clock timer: countdown mode
Switch to Countdown or press T. Pick a chip from 1 min to 60 min, or click the cards and type a time: 25m for 25 minutes, 1030 for 10:30. Press Start or Space to start and pause. The flips land exactly on each second because they’re timed from the moment the countdown ends, not counted. At zero a Bell rings, the screen flashes, the cards hold 00:00 and Time’s up appears. Switch back to Clock and the countdown keeps running underneath; a link under the cards shows what’s left.
For study and focus blocks with breaks, a Pomodoro timer fits better; for falling sand there’s the hourglass timer, and plain big digits are on the online countdown timer.
Card styles, seconds and 12/24 h
Four card styles come with the clock: Dark (the default), Light, Contrast with a yellow outline, and Wood. Press C to cycle through them. Hide the seconds for a calmer face that flips once a minute. In 12-hour mode the clock keeps a blank hour card before 10 o’clock, so no card appears or vanishes and nothing jumps. The date can sit under the cards, and night cards in amber are in Settings too. For a softer, more aesthetic flip clock look, open the aesthetic clock.

How the flip animation works
Every digit is a card split at a hinge. When a digit changes, the top half of the old card falls forward, then the new card’s bottom half lands, 0.5 seconds in all. Only the cards whose digit changes move, so at 10:42:59 → 10:43:00 three cards flip and the rest stay still. Each flip is started by your device’s clock at the whole second, so the cards never drift, and after sleep or a background tab they jump straight to the right time instead of flipping through the minutes you missed. With reduce motion turned on in your system, digits change without flipping.
Tips and limits
The flip clock is silent: only a finished countdown rings. A screen that stays on uses battery, so plug in, or hide the seconds. Phones lock unless the screen is kept on. The time comes from your device, not the internet; the fullscreen digital clock explains how to set your computer’s clock right. Need a sound at a set time of day? Use the online alarm clock.

FAQ
How do I use the flip clock as a screensaver?
Open the page, press F and leave it. The cards fill the screen, the screen stays on in current browsers and the cards drift a few pixels each minute. A web page can't be installed as your computer's screensaver or start after idle time, so for unattended days use your system screensaver or let the computer sleep.
Can the flip clock count down?
Yes. Switch to Countdown or press T, pick a chip such as 10 min, or type 25m or 1030, then press Start. The cards flip down to 00:00, a Bell rings and Time's up appears. Switching back to Clock keeps the countdown running in the background.
Can I hide the seconds?
Yes. Turn off Show seconds in Settings and the clock shows hours and minutes only, so a card flips just once a minute. It's a calmer look for a desk or a dark room, and the cards grow a little bigger because fewer of them share the width.
Does the flip clock work offline?
Yes, once the page has loaded. The flip clock, the countdown and the alarm sound all run inside your browser, so a dropped Wi-Fi connection doesn't stop them. Your card style and settings stay in this browser, and nothing is sent to a server.
Will it keep my screen on?
In fullscreen and while a countdown runs, yes, in current browsers: the page asks the device to keep the screen awake and Settings shows whether it worked. Where that isn't possible, change the display sleep setting of your computer or tablet instead.
Can I get an aesthetic, minimal flip clock look?
Pick Light or Contrast cards and turn off Show seconds for a clean, minimal flip clock. For softer themes such as gradients, lo-fi grain or paper, with your own line of text under the time, open the aesthetic clock instead.
Does a flip clock drain the battery?
A screen that stays on always uses power, and that's most of what this page costs. The flip animation only runs for half a second when a digit changes, and hiding the seconds cuts that to once a minute. Plug in a laptop or tablet that runs the clock all day.
Does the flip clock make a ticking sound?
No. The flip clock is completely silent: no ticks and no clicks while the cards turn, even in fullscreen. The only sound is the alarm at the end of a countdown, and you can change it or switch it off under Sound in Settings, or press M to mute it.
